About AMMIN

The African Methane Mitigation and Intelligence Network (AMMIN) is an independent not-for-profit organization working to advance methane emissions reduction efforts across the oil and gas sector in Africa with registered offices in Calgary, Canada, and a strong network of collaborators across the African continent.

Our trustees, team members, contributors and advisors come with diverse experiences in the oil & gas industry, policymaking institutions, academia, technology development corporations, non-profit organizations, etc., with expertise leading methane emissions reduction efforts across the globe.

It is from this deep pool of domain expertise and global connectivity that AMMIN was formed to elevate the conversation around methane emissions in Africa, catalyze measurable action, and showcase successes as they are achieved.

As an organization led by Africans with lived experiences, we contextualize our engagements, design project elements, and tailor our program delivery in alignment with local opportunities and existing realities.

Our Vision

We envision an African energy sector that is not only competitive on the global stage, but also compliant with the increasingly stringent environmental and climate requirements of major demand centres. Doing this ensures that Africa becomes a continent where methane emissions are measured, understood, and systematically mitigated through science, collaboration, and policy leadership, resulting in stronger economies, cleaner air, and improved public health.

Our Mission

To foster progressive dialogue and practical collaboration that position Africa as a leader in methane mitigation and responsible energy production.

Our Approach

AMMIN’s work is guided by six-interconnected pillars:

Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration

Building bridges between governments, operators, technology companies, NGOs, and communities to share knowledge, best practices, and resources

Technology Awareness & Training

Showcasing proven and emerging methane detection, measurement, and reduction technologies to accelerate adoption across the continent

Engagement & Capacity Building

Ensuring that communities, workers, and local businesses are informed and involved in methane mitigation efforts, creating shared value

Policy & Regulatory Advocacy

Working with policymakers to design and implement practical, science-based regulations that encourage methane reduction while supporting economic growth

Data & Intelligence Hub

Promoting the collection, analysis, and transparent reporting of methane emissions data to guide decision-making and build trust with global markets

Professional Services

Offering specialized consulting, training, project management, and technical advisory services to help operators achieve methane mitigation targets and comply with international standards

Our Commitment

AMMIN is committed to being more than just a voice in the conversation, but also a catalyst for action. Through partnerships, training, advocacy, and technical support, we aim to accelerate Africa’s progress in methane mitigation, ensuring that the continent’s energy sector thrives in a world that is increasingly demanding cleaner and more sustainable energy.

We believe that Africa has the talent, drive, and determination to lead on this issue, so by combining world-class expertise with on-the-ground engagement, AMMIN seeks to ensure that African energy is not only produced but also delivered responsibly to meet the world’s growing energy demand.
